Fighting absenteeism with the World’s Longest Roll Call
15MM kids were chronically absent last year. To raise awareness, we printed 15MM names on a massive roll call sheet. We then filmed a PSA with Communities In Schools coordinators calling attendance—which made an invisible problem unmissable when it earned a 7-minute segment on Good Morning America.
The roll itself was made practically, with one name physically printed on it for each of America’s 15 million absent students. When spooled the roll was six feet tall, and when unrolled was over 2,000 feet long.
A stark but heartfelt picture of a genuine crisis.
